Why do men always lose hair the same way?
They don't, Alopecia is the common term for male patten baldness. This may occur from a combination of factors including but not limited to the condition of your scalp, genetics, hormonal issues, and lifestyle factors.
Why do so many women suffer from hairloss?
Like men, women lose hair for many of the same reasons. The difference is that generally society does not accept a woman losing hair the same as when a man loses his. Women also have the added pressure of using too many of the wrong type of "hair care" beauty products that end up causing long term damage.
I am told that Genetics cause hairloss and there is nothing I can do?
Genetics can play a role in hairloss but often it is not the deciding factor. One needs only to look at professional athletes to see people overcoming "genetic" shortcomings all the time. Genetics determine if there is a tendency for a problem to happen. Other factors have a lot to do with when the problem occurs and how bad it actually gets.
I thought hairloss was hormonal?
Women are usually more concerned with this, and rightfully so. Men have a relatively smooth ride when it comes to hormonal changes in the body. Women on the other hand go through major changes every month (menstruation). And larger ones yet during major life changes (menopause). It is very difficult to regulate hormonal imbalances for the majority of people and if hair loss is happening because of a hormonal imbalance there is usually little that can be done outside of dealing with the hormonal condition (see also stress).
Does stress effect hairloss?
There are many causes of hair loss and stress is one of them. Stress can change a multitude of biological functions in the body and if untreated any hairloss problem will become chronic in relation to the ongoing stress. If stress is really the culprit any loss of hair after the influence of the stressor has passed usually will re-grow. Quite often stress is only one of many issues that need to be dealt with.
